Kansas City Zoo Photo Club Newsletter

June 2002

The June meeting of the Kansas City Zoo Photo Club will be June 17, 2002 at 7:00 p.m.  Due to the fact we have trouble showing slides in the summer-time because of lighting, we will have workshops until  October. This meeting, Jim Rendina will give a program on how-to tips and a quiz. You may bring slides to show after 8:30 p.m.  Crystal Nederman will bring refreshments.

NOTICE:  This will be the last newsletter sent by “snail mail” (postal) except for members and guests without email.  Starting next month, newsletter and meeting minutes will be sent as attachments to a monthly email. You can print your own copy.  Members and guests without email will continue to get their copy thru the mail as always.

Terry Fretz is showing his photography at the Schlagel Library near Wyandotte County Lake until June 30th.  Hours are 10-4 Tuesdays thru Saturdays.

Ten people attended the zoo walk-thru Sat. June 1, led by Conrad Schmitt.

The Zoo is looking for volunteers to help get ready for Zoo day.  Kansas City Zoo has been selected as the host for a joint conference of the National Association of Zoological Horticulture and the American Association of Zoo Keepers.  More than 500 delegates, conservationists, horticulturists and landscapers from zoos, botanical gardens and environmental organizations around the world will attend these conferences.  Oct. 6-10.

Contact Jacque Blessington at (816) 513-5700, ext. 25703 or Beth Schaefer at (816) 513-4617 if you would like to volunteer.

Co-editor Barbara Chase will be touring Alaska for the next three months.  Until September, please send any articles or items of interest for the zoo newsletter to Co-editor Carol Mitchell: email: Carolm1218@aol.com or phone: (816) 333-7573.
