July 2003 www.zoophoto.org
Savanahland has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2003 from 5-7 PM. They have changed their policy and now are open to the public during the day. In order to have a private party (20+) we had to schedule it for the evening. If it rains, they will let us come for 1 hour, 5-6 pm, and have the chimp at the covered pavilion. The price is $10.50 per person for two hours – I think they will charge less for one hour.
(Thanks to Kathy Hinkle for taking the minutes for the June meeting.)
Dan Paulson called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm..
Steve Brewer proposed setting up a 2nd/new domain because of problems with the webmaster. He said Sarah had been getting phone calls about our site being down. Motion was made and seconded.
Guests were introduced.
Marie told us about John Wright who will be our guest speaker at the July meeting. He would like to have CD’s of zoo animals from the KC Zoo for a project for Children’s Mercy Hospital and also shut-ins.
Tim Bischoff was our guest speaker. He went to college with Gary Gingrich. He prefers black & white and infrared photography. He showed slides of his prints and also brought prints along too. He had photographs from Martha’s Vineyard/ the east cost and Santa Fe, NM area. Likes to film old weathered things and have done a lot of concert shots also. He likes to use T-Max 400 pushed to 1600, then push process it a couple of stops. He also showed panoramic pictures taken in Phoenix and the Grand Canyon. He also has done sports photography. He likes using a wide angle lens (14mm) to get a different look/perspective.
Old Business- from Sarah – the Sunset Safari will be June 27th – open until 8 pm. They encourage your photos to be with the public and not behind the scenes. Show children interacting if possible. The club will have a walk-thru Sat. morning at 9 am. Cannot go in with the primates unless you’ve had a TB test.
The third Saturday of the month will be a photo shoot/walk-thru starting July 19th.
Savanahland was postponed because of inclement weather.
New Business – Jim Rendina told an animal story of critters he saw at Hot Springs, AR.
Sherry Leonardo suggested we display zoo animal pictures in the lobby of the Imax Theatre to spark interest in the Zoo. Sarah said they are particular about how they display.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:44 pm.
